Anodic protection shell-and-tube stainless steel coolers for concentrated sulfuric acid (for short: Anodic protection coolers) was awarded the generalizing item of National Important Science and Technology Achievement. The product has been applied almost 7000 sets in sulfuric acid devices of 500 sulfuric acid plants at home and abroad including 1000t/a sulphur acid making devices and 700t/a smelting acid making devices. What’s more, the product has been exported to Iran Yazid Zinc Smelter, Korea Kwangsong Trading Corp, Miwon Chemicals Co., Ltd., Zambia Chambish Copper Smelt Project (270Kt/a smelting fume acid making devices) and Turkey Caldag SAP Project (1000Kt/a sulphur acid making devices). TIANHUA is the only company engaged in device research, development, Design, manufacture and production, after service and sales integration enterprise.
Anodically protection coolers are widely used in the production of sulfuric acid drying and absorption section. The function of anodically protection coolers is by applying anode current, so that the surface (stainless steel) which contact with sulfuric acid can be protected, then the annual rate of corrosion control in the range of 0.01-0.03mm
Chemical equipment plant underneath TIANHUA has an occupation area of 6000m2 with welding laboratory, inspecting room, material testing room, machine work room. For ensuring the quality of the product, the Anodically protected coolers are performed many processes as follows: firstly, the product is designed and manufactured referring to the Type I standard of pressure vessels and is tested in the ways of materials, evaluation for welding process, X radiographic inspection, etc. Secondly, welding quality of orifice of heat exchange tube is tested by ammonia leak test. Finally, hydrostatic pressure test is put up. Chemical equipment plant underneath TIANHUA has Manufacture License of Special Equipment of People’s Republic of China (class A2) and may be standard of ASME.
2.The working principle:
The working principle of the concentrated sulfuric acid equipments with anodic
protection is as follows: whole equipment surface contacted with concentrated sulfuric acid is anode, one or more than one cathodes are installed, thus forming a current loop through sulfuric acid. To protect the equipments, an external anodic current is imposed, and anodic polarization occurs. The polarization potential is promptly passed via the induced passivation potential, and enters the stable passive region, then is maintained in this region. Thus, a passive film can be formed on the metal surface, which can make the corrosion rate of equipment decrease in concentrated sulfuric acid.
